Tamago Line
Tamago Line is a collection of egg shaped pendants. It represents the biological process of division and reproduction on a cellular level.
The collection was inspired by a time-lapse video from Francis Chee, a documentary and wildlife film maker, that shows cell division in a frog egg.
The name of the series comes from "tamago" (卵 or たまご) a Japanese word for egg. The contemporary design of Tamago Line wooden pendants is based on compositions of various geometric shapes and curves.
The designs are also based on Fibonacci numbers. Fibonacci sequence is often found in the natural world in different structures and patterns, for example in shells or in flower structure.
Materials
The wood of choice for this series is rosewood. It is a hard exotic species of wood. One of the reasons for its hardness are very small wood pores. This makes it ideal for carving tiny details, because its hardness allows for more control during carving since the wood is removed at a slower pace.
The string is made from kangaroo leather, which is one of the strongest leathers available. Kangaroo leather is lighter and much stronger in comparison to cowhide or goatskin.
Stainless steel has high corrosion resistance compared to other non-precious metals often used in jewelry. Its superior strength and modern appearance make it an excellent choice for jewelry segments that are subjected to wear.
